Going Wild for Rare Trades

November 2008 saw a fantastic collaboration between TFA and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) in the form of a Traditional Framing Workshop at Monarto Zoo.

As part of their ‘Reviving Rare Trades’ Initiative, the CITB funded a 5-day Introduction to Traditional Timber Framing Workshop, taught by the TFA framers. The workshop took place on-site at Monarto Zoo, and the completed frame was then donated to the zoo as a permanent structure.

Nine participants took part in the workshop, and for many of them it was their first hands-on experience of traditional framing. A fantastic week was had by all, and our most grateful thanks go to the CITB and Monarto Zoo for their contributions to the project.
